This litterature review by Cristina Bosoi and Christopher Rose was about cerebral edema. This paper review studies about cerebral edema in liver disease setting, and discuss similarities and differences observed in case of chronic and acute disease.
Cerebral edema is an accumulation of water in brain, resulting in an increased intracranial pressure and detrimentally lead to brain stem herniation (movement of brain outside the skull) and death.
